We have been so busy lately getting the house ready for the final inspection. We started home improvements in mid-May and had 6 months to complete them. I think we will have the 'inspect-able' things done TODAY!!!! I can not wait! The house won't be done, technically, b/c we still have little details that we are working on of our own accord - not part of the loan list - but we have gotten SO much done and the house looks so different... Plus, we are that much closer to being able to start on the nursery. I have 2 canvases - 1 of them is BIG - that I plan to do for Asher's room and we want the house to be in order and all decorated in time for the baby shower, which will be some time in late January / early February ... So, today will be go, go, go just like every weekend before it for the last 1/2 of a year, but being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel motivates me so much more than I was just 1 month ago and we were spending every minute Dustin's not at work - working at home ... can't wait!
I have a BUNCH of pictures ...
I bought this wall sculpture on eBay this summer. The seller said it was genuine mid-century - it is not. Someone made this recently with a welding tool, but it looks MCM, which is what we like ... I did not, however, like the color of the welding rods - they had been spray painted gold and the tips were burnt - not cute - so I spent 5 hours doing a faux patina finish - or would it be a 'patina' finish (minus the 'faux')??? ... I don't even really know what that word means, but it makes me sound so art-savvy ... I used turquoises and teals and bronzes ... I think I'm using it correctly though: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patina
Jasper likes it ...
Some randoms of the dogs ...and Tyson ...
We got this HUGE (12' x 16') area rug on Craigslist - I LOVE IT! We decided - or the size of our rooms decided - that we would cut it so we can use it in our room and in our kitchen nook ... I wanted to put it in the living room - the dogs like it - but Puppy is already chewing on the corner, so that's a no go ...
Random pic of lunch yesterday ... fish sticks and sugar snap peas ...
A couple of the sunset the other day ... I love sunsets ...
I had never seen a picture of Dustin any younger than about 16-17 years old. The oldest picture I've seen of him is his ID from his Junior year of High School ... His brother sent him this picture the other day ... he's on the far left ... SO CUTE!!!
Speaking of adorable children, our niece, Peyton (aka: Pepe), turned 1 year old yesterday. She could be a baby model and, no, I am not just saying that out of auntie-biased ... she's a gorgeous little girl ... I took her 1 of our presents early (in secret hope that she would be wearing it this Sunday at her actual party - I'll let you know) and, in true Laura-form, all I had to wrap it in was a VERY SMALL bag from like 3 Christmases ago ... Rachel liked the dress - Peyton seemed indifferent - lol ...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PEPE!!!
Dustin had a 3 hour play date with our neighbor, Jim, last night, so I took the opportunity to use the time to clean Selah's tank ... I won't even tell you how long it's been since the last time I cleaned it b/c it's verging on neglectful ... but, it's clean now and she's happy!
