I am 32 weeks and 4 days pregnant today. Baby Center always sends me the update emails each week on Monday, so they are 3 days later than how far along I actually am. The email from yesterday said Asher is 3.75 lbs., which is the same as a large jicama... I had no idea what a jicama was, so I Googled it - it looks like a cross between an onion and a potato. 15 sticks of butter is the same as 3.75 lbs. and computes much more clearly in my head than the potato/onion hybrid. It says he's 16.7" long, which is crazy to me. There's a little person - a MALE, no less - in my stomach. I've realized through this whole pregnancy thing that the impossibility of it all doesn't seem as impossible until you actually find yourself pregnant and your stomach growing and this little person kicking you and making you have to sprint to the bathroom at regular intervals throughout the day ... As uncomfortable as I find myself at times, I also find myself wishing I could just carry him around in there until he's out of the baby baby stage. Between my mom's daycare and other people I know with kids, I'm kind of dreading that part. I'm not worried about the late night feedings or lack of sleep or diaper changes, but the lack of time. We were sitting there eating breakfast the other morning and I looked at Dustin and said, 'I wonder what mornings are going to look like once Asher's here.' It scares me. I sat in my studio for 10 hours straight yesterday, getting up for bathroom breaks and to eat once, painting and I know I'm not going to have time like that once he's here ... I'm sure I'll figure it out - I don't really have any choice but to, but the lack of time is at the top of the list of things I wonder about ...

This is a jicama in case you, like me, have no idea and think that sounds more like a suburb in Jamaica than some sort of vegetable? fruit? I don't even know ...
Asher weighs the same as 15 sticks of butter, for the simpler mind ...
Another 3rd trimester woe I find myself battling daily, after every single meal, is heartburn and acid reflux that feels like it is trying to burn a hole in my esophagus... it's awesome! Water with a heaping tablespoon of baking soda is my only reprieve and lately I wonder if it's possible to poison myself by drinking too much baking soda ...
With less than 8 weeks to go, we are scrambling to get things in order. 1 of the main things is deciding if we are going to do cloth diapers or regular. I've heard that cloth diapers save a lot of $, and I'm all about saving $, but I've also heard that they make your house smell like a pig sty and I have the most sensitive gag reflex known to man, so I'm waiting to talk to a friend, Morgan, who used cloth with her 2nd son and get her input ...
The other thing we really need to get going on is training the dogs as best we can between now and the time we bring Asher home about how to act with a baby and that he is not edible ... I've read online, and my cousin's husband who is a dog trainer said, that using a baby doll with a tape recorder of an actual crying baby is a good way to go about it, so we will be getting a baby doll this weekend and then I'll go to my mom's house right before nap time to see if I can get a recording of any of the younger babies crying ...
The lady that I did a commission painting for in November emailed me a picture of her husband, Jeff, who the painting was for, next to the painting. She said he really liked it. I'll be adding it to the Collector Album. The scripture is Ruth 1:16-17:
I took the stray cat we picked up on Christmas morning to the vet yesterday for his injured paw. It is an abscess. He got a shot - didn't like that - and the vet said he actually is neutered - recently, which is why it still looks like he's not - and he's only about a year old. So, that's lots of good news. The paw isn't broken or fractured, he's neutered so 1. We won't be paying to have it done and 2. It's much more likely he is someone's cat and not just a really friendly stray and his age also gives us more reason to believe he belongs to someone ... he's too pretty and too friendly not to ... so, I'm checking for Tyson at Animal Control again today and will fill out a found report and get found signs up at the vets around here ... and, we are still praying Tyson comes home. I hope someone has taken him in and he's not out in this cold weather all alone ... I try not to think about it most of the time ...Evander is NOT happy about the stray, but he's tolerating him ... I think b/c the stray is young. If he were older I think Evander would feel more threatened. Tyson was the protector of the house. Evander, who is a boy cat, is a little girl when it comes to dominance. Evander is the light color one, the stray is the dark one ...
@ the vet. I've never seen a cat so calm and relaxed ... He did have 103 degree fever, though, so that could be why ...
As I said, I spent 10 hours painting yesterday. As my belly expands, the clock is quickly winding down on how much longer I'll be able to sit on a laminate floor, Indian style, painting for hours on end ... so I'm trying to get all the paintings done for Asher's room as quickly as possible ... Here is what we have so far:
Name painting:
Large canvas:
2 16" x 20" Canvases:
1 of 2 skateboards with scripture - this one is Psalm 139:!3-16:
Dustin says the skateboard is his favorite piece thus far - shocker!
My god daughter, Sammy, on her new rocking horse that she got for Christmas ...
Dustin in 1 of the t-shirts my parents got him ... and they actually picked these out themselves. I am not allowed to buy Dustin clothes b/c he says I am trapped in the 80's ... I am not, but he never likes anything I pick out, so I was both surprised and annoyed that he liked what my parents picked out!
Dustin knows how obsessed I am with the Hipstamtic iPhone App & he's always on the look out for new photo apps for me ... He found this one, it's called Vintage Camera ... I like it a lot, especially River and Rainbow - and it's FREE!!! I can't find a link to the photo app to include, but I did find a link to the video app that makes it so you can film video as if it were an 8mm film roll - that one is not free - it's $1.99 - Dustin got that one, too - more for himself, I think - I'm more into photos than video, but both are pretty cool! I've said this a thousand times, but I'll say it again: I WISH Apple would come out with a camera - not a phone + camera - that you could download all these apps to! I, and a boat load of other people, would pay HUNDREDS of dollars for it, I'm sure...

That's all I've got for today.
