I figured I better hop on this entry, that I will probably have to split into 2 entries because of the # of pictures, before Asher is discharged from the hospital and I have no time to do anything but nurse and pump!

Ok, so, last Tuesday, January 31, 2012, my mom came out to Celina so we could get the belly mold done. I think that was also that day that I took the last belly pics that I have ... The mold turned out ok - it is going to need some work to get it how we really want it, but the foundation is there and it's just a matter of making it thicker, getting it much much harder and painting and finishing it. So ...and then we took some pics of Dustin talking to Asher and kissing my tummy (insert 'Awwww!' here)...

So, Thursday, February 2, 2012, I had a prenatal appointment at 3:30pm for the biophysical profile. I want to go on a rant here, because Dustin and I are not - and will never be - convinced that any of what has happened was necessary and the biophysical profile, that I was hesitant to agree to from the minute they mentioned it, is what got this ball rolling... BUT, I really want to keep this positive because we ended up with a beautiful little boy and I'm trying to stay focused on what to be thankful for, instead of what I wish had gone differently (which is pretty much everything) ...

Ok, so, biophysical profile resulted in the OBGYN, Dr. Asis, saying that my amniotic fluid was low and between that and the fact that Asher was still frank breech, I needed an emergency c-section, which I had at 9:30pm that night. My uncle Mark happened to be in town for business, so that was nice that he got to be there and see Asher right after he was born. Maybe someday I'll do a post about the c-section itself. Unless I find myself in a situation like this again, I will not have another c-section.

Asher was born on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 10:07pm weighing 5.77 lbs and measuring 18" long.

The most difficult thing for me was that right after he was born, Dustin went to go see him and I could hear Asher crying, but I couldn't see anything. There was a blue sheet that was literally touching my nose when I put my head forward so I could not see what was going on below it - and I doubt I would have been able to stomach seeing that anyway - but I couldn't see Asher, I couldn't hold him, he could not be laid on my chest right away for immediate skin to skin time ... Yeah, see, this whole thing was so NOT how I hoped it would be, it's practically impossible not to have it be pretty clear how I felt/feel about the whole thing ... BUT, Asher is alive and happy and for that I thank God.

Asher was frank breech, where his legs are bent at the hip and straight up by his head, so that's how he came out!

I had to go into recovery for - well, I was supposed to be in there for 2 hours, but I was in for longer ... I won't go into detail about what happens in the recovery room after a c-section. I wish someone had warned me about what the nurses have to do EVERY 15 minutes for 2 HOURS to make sure your uterus is shrinking and hardening... Seriously, it could be used as a form of torture in war. The lead nurse was nice enough to give Asher his first bath in the recovery room so I could be a part of something - I missed everything else - thank GOD for iPhones! We didn't have time to pack a bag or anything and ALL the pictures we have are from our phones and the phones of our family!

I'm going to do another entry to be sure none of the pictures get left off ...
