The old man of the house, Pops, has gone to the vet 3 times for the same thing and each time he would get some new medication or shot or whatnot... then I noticed this weekend that Mickey - the big white dog - has fleas. Which got me thinking, 'I wonder if Pops has fleas...' Sure enough, not only does Pops, but all 5 dogs and both cats. So, I went and stocked up on Frontline (and we have 3 different weight classes between our 5 dogs - if you've ever purchased Frontline, you know what that means) and Evolution for the cats yesterday. While I was at the vet, I went ahead and scheduled to bring Ashley in this Thursday b/c she tore her nail and it needs to be cut back to the quick - it's a painful process and one I was hoping to avoid. She tore her nail last week, but we've had to have them cut the nail back before and knowing how much it would hurt her, I was hoping it would heal itself and we could avoid that this time... now it's infected and sedation is going to be necessary to get the job done. So... Ashley goes in on Thursday, right...
Ok. So, Dustin and I are outside talking to my friend Lori last night and Tyson, one of our cats, walks up and he's purring, wanting lovin', so I start petting him. I ran my hand down his back and up his tail and then I realize that the BONE is sticking out the end of his tail about an inch and he's bleeding and has clearly done something to it...
So, I took him to the vet and dropped him off this morning before heading in to my 2nd day at this new job... the vet calls me a little while later to let me know they are going to have to amputate 1/2 the tail and he has to spend the night... I won't even get into how much all this crap is costing at this point...
The vet said it could have been that his tail got stuck under a tire and he went to run or another animal could have bitten it off ... she said it's actually not that uncommon in both dogs and cats... but, knowing that didn't make knowing that his tail is being amputated any easier to swallow...
... I ended up walking out (literally, grabbing my purse and walking out) of my 'new job' today, my 2nd day of work... I'm not even going to waste the time or energy going into the explanation as to why, but I will say that I had heard enough f-bombs to fill an entire week of HBO programming and after working for 8.5 hours yesterday and leaving with $26 in tips, it just felt like Churchill's all over again... not doing that again... and not putting up with some power tripping 'boss' being verbally abusive to everyone there, except, of course, his 17 year old daughter. God I hate work place politics...
I often wonder if I will ever find a job I can hold for any respectable amount of time...
I also had the pleasure of going to the doctor today to find that, yes, I do have a sinus infection and an ear infection! This week is going SO WELL so far!
Change of subject:
My little brother and his wife went to Vatican City yesterday... here are some pics:
The creepy highlighter yellow/green head:
...and Mary holding Jesus' body (it was behind bullet proof glass):
I have to remember that there is nothing in this life that can come my way, no matter how bad, no matter how 'all at once', that will separate me from the love of Christ!
Romans 8:35-39: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, 'For your sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.' No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord .
... and ya'll thought I was just going to use today's entry to complain...
HAPPY TUESDAY! :-)
